What this course is

A free, self-paced course on apparel quality: the quality management system and control plans, incoming and in-line inspection, AQL sampling and inspector calibration, measurement audit, textile and colourfastness testing, and the statistical tools that show whether a process can hold a specification. Four modules, each ending with a five-question quiz.

Who it is for

  • QA and QC officers moving into a supervisory role
  • Inspectors who want the statistics behind their sampling plan
  • Merchandisers and buyers who must read an inspection or test report
  • Laboratory staff and factory quality managers

What you will be able to do

  • Write a control plan that names the check, the standard, the frequency and the reaction
  • Draw a single or double AQL sampling plan and defend the accept or reject decision
  • Run a measurement audit and separate operator error from real process variation
  • Read a laboratory report on colourfastness and physical performance and act on it
  • Judge process capability from control chart data rather than opinion

Modules

  1. Module 1 — Quality Systems

Set up a quality management system for a factory or a buyer's programme, and turn a specification into a written control plan with a corrective-action route.

    3 subjects · five-question quiz

  2. Module 2 — Inspection and Measurement

Inspect incoming material, in-line work and finished garments to a stated plan, classify defects consistently, and run a measurement audit that stands up to challenge.

    5 subjects · five-question quiz

  3. Module 3 — Laboratory

Select the right test for a stated risk, read a laboratory report correctly, and decide what a failure means for the order.

    3 subjects · five-question quiz

  4. Module 4 — Statistical Quality

Use measurement-system analysis, control charts and capability indices to say whether a process is stable and able to hold the specification.

    3 subjects · five-question quiz

Certificate

Pass every module quiz and you can download a completion certificate from the certificate page. It is a self-study record, not an accredited qualification.
