Sustainability claims a factory can actually defend

What a claim needs behind it before it leaves the factory, and the records that turn intent into evidence.

A claim is a measurement with a boundary

Every defensible claim states what was measured, over what period, within what boundary, against what baseline. Remove any one of those and the claim becomes marketing. 'We reduced fabric waste' is not a claim; 'cutting-room fabric waste fell from X to Y per cent of issued fabric across these six styles between these dates, measured at cut-order level' is.

  • Who verified it, and what remains unverified

Start with the records you already keep

Marker utilisation, cut-order plans, rework logs and consumption variance already exist in most factories. They are usually stronger evidence than a new initiative, because they run continuously and nobody created them to prove a point.

Say plainly what you do not know

Naming the limits of a claim is what makes the rest of it credible to a buyer's technical team. A claim with a stated boundary survives an audit; one without a boundary invites the auditor to define it for you.
