Practical 1B: Paired fabric comparison
Practice a visual comparison under the specified sources and record it fully.
Materials
- Paired fabric samples with their reference
- Viewing equipment with the light sources specified by the applicable procedure
- Paired comparison worksheet
Setup
- Confirm the viewing equipment is maintained and the specified sources are available.
- Prepare sample and reference in the same orientation and layering.
Safety / limits: If the specified viewing equipment is not available, complete the setup section of the worksheet only and leave the shade result marked 'unverified'. Do not substitute window daylight.
Steps
- Record the reference ID and the light source in use.
- Place sample and reference side by side as the procedure describes.
- Record lightness, hue direction and chroma observations separately.
- Repeat under each specified source and record each result.
