Twisting and escalation

Lesson 4 of 4

Objective

Tell genuine leg twist apart from poor presentation, and escalate with evidence rather than assumptions.

Twist shows as the side seam rotating toward the front or back of the leg. A fabric fold or careless presentation can look similar.

Repeat a standardized hanging and flat preparation. If the rotation repeats, it is more likely genuine.

Photograph or record the front and back views before suggesting any cause. Record suspected causes as hypotheses, not facts.

For dress or romper variants, add product-specific checks for neck, bodice, crotch or skirt as the specification requires.

Factory scenario: a twist complaint

A twist is suspected on several chinos. The inspector repeats the standard preparation, records front and back views showing a consistent rotation, and writes 'possible causes for investigation' instead of stating a root cause.

Common mistakes

  • Diagnosing a cause on first sight.
  • Judging from a single badly folded presentation.
  • Skipping product-specific checks on dress variants.

Your action
