Formula or method

Thread per garment (m) = Σ(seam length cm × stitch-type thread factor) ÷ 100 × (1 + wastage% ÷ 100).

Substitution: Thread per garment (m) = Σ(seam length cm × stitch-type thread factor) ÷ 100 × (1 + wastage% ÷ 100).
Result: 5.9375

The thread factor for each row comes from the stitch type and machine setting in use (for example a lockstitch 301 seam uses far less thread per cm than a 5-thread overlock 516).
Seam lengths are measured on the approved size or the buyer's costing size.

Planning estimate: actual consumption varies with SPI, fabric thickness, tension, thread type and operator trimming habit. Confirm factors against your own consumption records.
Colour-wise or cone-wise ordering must be split outside this tool.
