The daily work

  • Run inline roving checks on the critical operations of the running style.
  • Record defects by type and by operator, and hand the top defect back to the supervisor with evidence.
  • Measure garments against the spec sheet with the buyer's tolerance.
  • Segregate and control rejects, alterations and reworked pieces.

Skills employers screen for

  • The defect vocabulary — skipped stitch, puckering, twisted seam, shading, needle damage
  • Measuring accurately to the buyer's points of measure
  • Honest, consistent recording under production pressure
  • Basic AQL awareness so endline work matches final inspection reality

Qualification

Apparel diploma or in-house QC training. Many factories run their own QC certification for internal candidates.

How to get in

  1. 1.Memorise the points of measure and tolerance logic; it is asked in almost every QC interview.
  2. 2.Read the free inspection and defect explainers and practise on any garment at home.
  3. 3.Apply as QC / Quality Inspector, then move to QA Officer once you can run audits.
