This lesson and the entire Lean Six Sigma Black Belt academy are free of charge — no fees, ever.

Learning objectives

  • State the purpose and completion criteria of this free academy.
  • Describe how modules, lessons, quizzes and the final project connect.
  • Choose a personal study cadence that fits shop-floor working hours.

What this academy is

This academy is a self-paced, garment-focused Black Belt learning path. It teaches Lean, Six Sigma and DMAIC as they are actually used in cutting rooms, sewing lines, washing plants and finishing areas.

There is no login, no payment and no paid statistical software. Every worked example uses free browser tools and spreadsheet-compatible formulas so factory teams can practice on the same laptop they already have.

How to move through the modules

  • Start with Foundations, then complete Define through Control in order.
  • Use Lean Principles, Leadership and the Statistics Laboratory whenever the DMAIC modules refer to them.
  • Apply what you learn to a real garment-industry project in Module 11.
  • Use Module 12 to self-check readiness before you claim personal completion.

Garment-factory example

A quality executive on a night shift finishing line studies one lesson per short break, then applies the takt-time worksheet to a real bottleneck the following morning. Progress is recorded locally in the browser so the same laptop resumes where it left off.

Method

  1. Bookmark the lessons that match a current factory problem.
  2. Complete each lesson’s knowledge check before moving on.
  3. Log a candidate project in Module 11 as soon as Module 2 is finished.

Common mistakes

  • Skipping Measure and jumping straight to solutions before the baseline is known.
  • Treating self-completion as an accredited Black Belt certification.

Knowledge check

Pick one answer per question. Explanations appear after you submit.

  1. 1. Which statement about this academy is correct?

  2. 2. When should a learner start Module 11 project work?
